Industry Association Workshop 2024::

“Creativity in Action: Innovative Solutions for Affordable Housing”

Join us for an engaging workshop on ways to creatively meet the ever-growing need for affordable and sustainable housing in our communities. We’ll explore how government officials can harness their creativity to develop innovative solutions with tiny houses and moveable tiny houses as viable means to meet the needs of diverse communities and socioeconomic backgrounds. From policymakers and changers to city and county authorities and visionaries interested in solving problems and serving others, we’ll explore creative options to ensure access to safe and affordable housing for our local communities. We’ll also hear from the people actually creating change in other communities and learn about the challenges they faced and their strategies used to achieve their success.

Topics:

  • Creative approaches to housing and housing development: we’ll explore the various building codes for tiny houses and movable tiny houses and how they are currently evolving. We’ll also discuss some of the challenges encountered in the design and construction of tiny homes.

  • Strategies for accommodating diverse communities: we’ll examine the background of the tiny house movement, its future and the efforts of various state and local governments in utilization of tiny houses as affordable and eco-friendly housing.

  • Challenges in housing code and policy implementation: we’ll review the codes and/or zoning laws that stand in the way of the tiny home movement.

  • Case studies and success stories from around the country: insight into the growth of tiny home communities, including where these communities are most prevalent and what amenities are made available to residents.

Now more than ever, thinking creatively to develop innovative solutions for diverse communities is needed. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn and collaborate with fellow officials and community members on sustainable ways to create impactful change in affordable housing.
